What is Dance Movement Therapy (DMT)?

DMT is a creative arts therapy based in psychoanalysis that harnesses the power of movement and dance to explore emotions, express feelings, and create deeper connection with oneself. By using dance as a medium of communication and self-exploration, participants can access a wealth of insight within their body and mind through connection, observation, and having meaningful experiences that promote increased mental health and overall wellbeing.

Welcome to our inclusive and intimate Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) group that will focus on self-discovery, mind-body connection and creating a catalyst for personal growth. Our aim is to strengthen the connection between the mind and body, explore that connection through movement, and use our experiences work towards greater mental health and therefore better quality of life. Participants are asked to attend all 6 sessions as part of the therapeutic process.

This program will follow a 6 month cycle, were participants will meet once a month over the 6 month period of time. After 6 months participants can choose to continue for another 6 months or can exit the group and new participants can join. Dates for the late half of 2024 are currently available above.

Your Dance Movement Therapist

Amanda Rose is a passionate and motivated Dance Movement Therapist, actively engaging with private clients, educational programs, and exploratory movement classes to inspire positive change and growth. Alongside her role as a full-time dancer and dance coach, she holds an esteemed Master’s degree in Dance Movement Therapy from La Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, complemented by a Bachelor's in Sociology and Spanish from Arizona State University. Amanda's professional focus lies in empowering her clients to embrace their emotions, establish profound mind-body connections, and leverage their experiences with movement and body awareness to foster personal growth and enhanced mental well-being. Through her expert guidance, clients uncover the transformative power of integrating physical and emotional experiences, gaining valuable insights that enrich their life journey. Together with Amanda, individuals embark on a meaningful path of self-discovery, nurturing resilience, and cultivating an overall sense of well-being.
