IT’S DRUM SOLO SEASON! Every summer Amanda Rose breaks out a brand new drum solo to rock your world and give you that summer shimmy challenge. This year’s edition even features a brand new Amanda Rose style drum solo track produced in Cairo!

This series will focus on shimmies, isolations, layering, and fun! Amanda Rose will provide multi-level techniques and material offering an appropriate challenge to all dancers no matter their level. Classes consist of; a Warm-Up, Shimmy Technique, Basic Technique, Advanced Technique, Improv & Theory, a Drill Combo or Musicality Combo.

Live Classes & Personal Feedback
are both available for this series,
Personal Feedback is limited to 10 participants and sells out fast!

This series will be using the highly popular 2-week segmented format, giving you the most out of your time with the series and helping you integrate the material. By popular request, this series will also feature ‘Improvisation & Theory’ sections in each class, discussing drum solo theory and structure and leaded guided improvisation exercises to help participants understand how to dance their own drum solo material.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Amanda Rose's usual blend of challenge and fun! No Drum Solo is complete without some sass and attitude.

  • Shimmy Layering & Development - Focusing on mobility and clear execution of shimmies with layered movements.

  • Shimmy Diversity - Making sure we have more than 1 or 2 good shimmies in our arsenal, this class will include no less than 6 types of shimmies.

  • Isolations - Learning how to isolation specific parts of the body and then how to execute appropriately for musicality.

  • Implementation - Musicality Combos will implement the technique in “real” scenarios, taking your technique out of a bubble and into real applications.

  • Improv & Creation - How to use diverse shimmies in your improvisation and own choreographies.

  • Patterns - Learn how to identify and react to musical patterns for live drum solo improvisation.

  • Focus - Learn theory and ways to focus your drum solo improvisation and creation.

  • Optional Live Classes - Add on 2 additional live classes to get the most out of the series and time with Amanda Rose

 Live Classes & Personal Feedback

Amanda Rose Online will be offering a hybrid option for this series, meaning that participants in the series can add on two Optional 90 min Live Online Classes with Amanda Rose that will take place Saturday, July 10th, and Saturday, August 7th at 18:00 GMT +2. Check your local time here. Classes are recorded and made available to participants for the duration of the series. Students can submit requests for what to cover in this class, such as review technical information, additional breakdown, and drilling, and help with the choreography. This is a fantastic way to take a pre-recorded class in your own time and then also have live contact with Amanda Rose to better your understand of the material and receive direct help.

As always, Personal Feedback is also available for this series, read more below. Personal Feedback is available for this series! The personal feedback option has become highly popular with Amanda Rose Online and is limited to 10 participants! Personal Feedback allows dancers to get the most out of their long-distance online study! You will be asked to submit to Amanda Rose a video of yourself performing the combination, choreography, and or improvisation exercises from each class in the series. From this video, Amanda Rose will return detailed written feedback to support your learning process.

This feedback will entail technique critique specifically towards the technique used in the combinations, general technique suggestions, evaluation of strengths and weakness, posture, application, timing, drills, and ideas for skill development! This tool is extremely valuable, not only do you get the class, basic and advanced technique, combination application, and breakdown, you also will get direct feedback on your own performance of the choreography/combination, an invaluable aspect many online classes don't offer!

New 2 Week Segmented Format

One of the comments that I often get about Amanda Rose Online classes is that there is so much content to dig into, so I’ve designed a new format that will support better learning and development. If you are familiar with Amanda Rose Online things will change only slightly from our usual format. This series will be 6 weeks long and include 6 full-length hour-long classes. What will change in this series is that 2 classes will be released at a time and students will have 2 weeks with this material. Every two weeks another 2 classes will be released and the previous classes will close. Another change is that in each two-week segment, the classes will be connected. The first class will be a pure technique, drilling, and theory class with a drill combo at the end. The second class will be a review of the first class, continued development on skills and drills, a full musicality combination breakdown, and drilling. If you feel you are more advanced and want more of a challenge, after Week 1, you can immediately move on to Week 2, with more advanced material and the combination breakdown. If you feel you need more time with Week 1 content, you will have access to it for 2 weeks and can take on the more advanced material and combination breakdown when you are ready.

HOW THIS SERIES WORKS

This series is 6 weeks long and will offer 2 new recorded classes every 2 weeks for a total of 6 classes.
Each lesson will be made available for 2 weeks, giving you the opportunity to study 2 classes during those 2 weeks.

Classes will be released every other Friday starting on July 2nd, July 16th, and July 30th, August 13th is when the last class will be closed. All necessary information, videos, links, music, etc. will be accessible on the AmandaRoseDance.com website, in the respective class pages. Additionally, during the course of the series your first Private Lesson with Amanda Rose will available at a discounted rate for series participants!

Opening & Closing Of Classes

Each class will be available for 2 weeks, which allows you to return to the material for reference, clarification, to repeat the drills or take the entire lesson over again. When the next week's lesson is released, the previous lesson will be closed and no longer available. Each lesson will last a duration between 50 mins to 1 hour and 15 mins, depending on the technique and theory of that week. This is full time on video and without repetition, but should you wish to repeat the material for additional drill time you are more than welcome to do so at your leisure and have access to the material for an entire week. In addition, you always have direct access to Amanda Rose through the Amanda Rose Online Community Facebook Group, FB messenger, and email for questions and comments throughout the series to address your needs.

Why Do Classes Close?

One of the main reasons that the classes close after a week is to keep people accountable and engaged. Many times when you feel like you can go back to something at any time, you don't actually make the effort to go back and then you never do. Giving time limits to each class pushes people to participate and use the material, thus keeping them engaged and taking advantage of the program. There do tend to be "Bonus Weeks" where the previous classes will be opened back up for review giving you a second chance at the information you may want to go over or had potentially missed. If you think about that in a standard live class you only get access to the class & teacher in that very moment, and then once it's over it's gone. This format gives you unlimited access for a week, allowing you tons of flexibility with schedule and the option to retake the classes at any point letting soak up as much as possible.
