When Should You Start Booking?
July is the peak of the high season in Barcelona, with increased tourism across Spain and Europe. Flights, accommodations, and local transportation fill up quickly, and prices tend to rise. We highly recommend securing your travel arrangements as early as possible to get the best rates and availability. Ideally, booking by late 2024 or early 2025 will ensure the best options for your stay.
Getting to and Around Barcelona
We recommend flying into Barcelona - El Prat International Airport! It's a very easy and accessible airport.
There a lots of ways to get into Barcelona from the airport! Taxi, Aerobus, Renfe, Metro & Car Rental (which are my recommendations in that order).
The Airport has free wifi and you can always use google maps to figure out the best way to get to your hotel/airbnb.
I do not recommend renting a car, Barcelona is very much a walking, public transportation and taxi city which are accessible and affordable. Uber does not really exist in Barcelona, instead use the FREENOW app for the local taxis.
Staying in Barcelona
Our recommendations are based on location, and you can make a decision based on price. You can easily book any hotel you'd like on Booking.com or any other website. Airbnb is also a decent option if you want an entire apartment and to share with others. We recommend the Silver Apart Hotel since it is walking distance from the workshop venue and in a very charming local neighborhood Gràcia. Neighborhoods we recommend are Gràcia, Eixample Izquiera, and Eixample Dereta. We recommend staying closer to the workshop venue Gràcia, for easy access. Both workshop & show venues are located on the Metro Green Line. If you plan on using public transportation we recommend staying close to a green line stop for ease.

General Barcelona Tips
💡Barcelona is a very walkable city, most people use public transportation, bicycles, scooters or motorcycles. Cars are not a good way to get around the city, unless you’re just grabbing a taxi!
Use Google Maps
Google Maps is the best tool for knowing your way around the city (including taxi and public transportation options), it is updated with actual bus, tramway and train times. It’s also a great way to figure out where to eat! Most spanish people use Google Maps to review and check out restaurants and bars.
Public Transportation
If you're planning on spending a couple days in Barcelona and want to use public transportation, we suggest getting a 10-Casual ticket which can be purchased at any metro station. It gives you 10 rides on the metro, bus, and trams, including transfers. It can only be used for one person, so each person needs their own.

Taxis
Taxi's are an easy option in the city, and are decently affordable. (Uber is not available here) and tipping is not a thing in Taxis.
You can also order taxis using the application Freenow here: www.free-now.com/es/
Barcelona - Local Language, Culture, & Traveling Tips
You’re in Catalunya! The local language is Catalan, not Spanish (Castellano as it’s referred to here) but everyone speaks Spanish as well. You can still use the common Spanish phrases, Hola! Gracias and Por favor! Most public information is in Catalan, Spanish & English.
Tipping is not customary in Spain, if you love your server, you can leave 1€ or a bit more, but it’s not expected at all!
Eating takes a while in Spain, so don’t think your service will be quick and your meal will be over in 30 mins. Most meals are about 90 mins or more, so if you’re sitting down to eat, be prepared for that.
Barcelona is VERY safe, but pickpocketing is very common, especially on public transporation or in touristy areas. Keep your purse or bag in front of you, always keep it closed, and don’t mindlessly use your phone on public transportation (someone might just grab it and hop out the door).
